FAQ
I know how overwhelming the home purchase process can be, so below is a list of frequently asked questions which may help prepare you for the home inspection process.  If you have any other questions not found below feel free to contact Jason at 615-516-5511 or  jason@daleyhomeinspections.com .

Day of Inspection
On the day of the inspection your inspector will meet you at the property.  He will probably arrive prior to the client to get set up and get familiar with the exterior of the home prior to the client arriving.  This helps save a little bit of the clients time.  It is recommended our clients wear comfortable clothes and shoes.  There is a lot of walking and standing during these inspections.  Don’t worry you wont be asked to get dirty, unless you want to.  Multiple pictures are taken so if there is something you cant get to we can show you a photo.  When finished you will be provided a multiple page report including color photos.

The utilities should be turned on.  If the home you are purchasing is unoccupied the utilities may not be turned on.  It’s important the electric, water and heating fuel, if needed, be activated and all pilot lights lit. Some utility providers can take a few days to coordinate activation, so these calls should be made as soon as possible.

Fees
The inspection time and fee depends on certain criteria including, age of home, size of home, vacant or occupied, utilities on or off, and whether the home has a crawl space, slab or basement foundation. A home inspection can last from 3 hours or longer and of course the larger the structure the longer the inspection.  Extra time is taken to answer any questions that you may have and also discuss certain maintenance items that need to be performed in order to keep your home in good condition. The inspector will also suggest certain energy efficient savings that can help reduce your utility bills, as well as discuss safety issues.  Forms of payment currently accepted are checks or cash only.
